ELECTIVES IN ILOILO

PHILIPPINES

Why Choose Iloilo For Your Elective?

The “City of Love” and the “Heart of the Philippines” — Iloilo is one of the safest and most student-friendly destinations in the country. Here, you’ll experience clinical exposure, warm Filipino hospitality, and unforgettable cultural adventures—all in one place.

Clinical Experience That Matters

Gain hands-on training under licensed practitioners in a variety of healthcare settings:

  • Iloilo Provincial Hospital

  • Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital

  • Aleosan District Hospital

  • Rural Health Units & Iloilo City Health Centers

What students typically do (under licensed supervision): history-taking, clinical exams, ward rounds, basic procedures (wound care, suturing practice when permitted, IV/venepuncture/phlebotomy where allowed), ECGs, sample collection/processing (medical lab students), imaging acquisition for radiography students, assisted dental restorations/extractions in supervised dental clinics, participating in OB/GYN deliveries and emergency responses when supervised. Exact tasks depend on hospital policy, discipline, and supervisor, but the expectation: meaningful hands-on responsibility with direct supervision.

You'll be well and truly looked after by April and her partner, Nino - it honestly felt like they were our family in the Philippines.

FAJER BUKABAR

“ I had my psychiatry elective in Capiz and Iloilo last August, and coming all the way from Kuwait, I was warmly welcomed with genuine hospitality. The staff were incredibly supportive, the experience was very helpful, and the accommodation felt just like home—exactly what I had hoped for. The Philippines is a beautiful country with kind people, and I would definitely recommend this program to anyone considering an international elective. ”

THOMPSON TAYLOR
